Information We Collect

We may collect information you voluntarily provide us, such as your email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter.

We may also automatically collect certain information about your device and usage of our website through cookies and other tracking technologies, such as your IP address (Internet Protocol address), browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, and clickstream data. Collecting this information is standard practice among websites.

We do not collect any of the following information:

  • Names
  • Email addresses, unless you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter or fill out our contact form.
  • Demographic information (e.g., age, gender)
  • Payment information

Should you contact us through our Contact Form we retain your email address only to reply to your inquiry and only because you agreed to volunteer that email address to obtain a response from us. After our exchange concludes, we promptly delete email addresses obtained through the contacts form.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use Cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our website and store certain information. Using such tracking technologies is standard website practice. Tracking technologies are beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and improve and analyze our service. The technologies we use may include:

  • Cookies or Browser Cookies. A cookie is a small file placed on your device. You can instruct your browser to refuse all Cookies or to indicate when a Cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept Cookies, you may be unable to use some parts of our website. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse Cookies, our website may use Cookies.
  • Web Beacons. Certain sections of our website and our emails may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that permit us, for example, to count users who have visited those pages or opened an email and for other related website statistics (for example, recording the popularity of a particular section and verifying system and server integrity).

Cookies can be “Persistent” or “Session” Cookies. Persistent Cookies remain on your personal computer or mobile device when you go offline, while Session Cookies are deleted as soon as you close your web browser.

We use both Session and Persistent Cookies for the purposes set out below:

Necessary / Essential Cookies

  • Type: Session Cookies
  • Administered by: Us
  • Purpose: These Cookies are essential to provide you with functions available through the website and to enable you to use some of its features. They help to authenticate users and prevent fraudulent use of user accounts. Without these Cookies, essential functions of the website may not work as expected.

Cookies Policy / Notice Acceptance Cookies

  • Type: Persistent Cookies
  • Administered by: Us
  • Purpose: These Cookies activate only if users have accepted the use of cookies on the website via a cookie consent banner.
  • Consent Mechanism: When you visit the website for the first time, we allow you to reject or customize these cookies through a cookie consent banner. The website will not use Cookies until you have consented. You can change your mind about your Cookie choices anytime by revisiting the consent form here: Cookie Consent.

Functionality Cookies

  • Type: Persistent Cookies
  • Administered by: Us
  • Purpose: These Cookies allow us to remember choices you make when you use the website, and they are only applicable should you subscribe to our email newsletter or create an account here (which is not currently possible but may be in the future). These Cookies allow us to do things like remember your login details or language preference. The purpose of these Cookies is to provide you with a more personal experience and not require you to re-enter your preferences every time you use the website.

How We Use Your Information

We may use the information we collect for various purposes, including:

  • To communicate with you (e.g., to send our newsletter, only if you voluntarily subscribe to it, or to reply to you should contact us through the Contact Form).
  • To analyze website traffic and user behavior to improve our website and services.
  • To utilize and optimize marketing and advertising, such as serving targeted ads.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information with third-party service providers that assist us in operating our website, such as hosting providers, analytics providers, and advertising partners.

We do not sell or rent any data we collect. We only share anonymized data for functional purposes as described here:

Google Analytics: We share anonymous data with Google Analytics to analyze website traffic and user behavior.

Google Ads: If we enable Google Ads, we will share anonymous data with Google to display targeted advertisements.

Amazon Associates: We participate in the Amazon Associates program, which may involve sharing anonymous data with Amazon to track affiliate earnings. This means a small cookie is used to identify that you visited a product on Amazon after clicking on a link on our website. If you purchase that product, we get a small commission.

If you don’t want your anonymized data used for these purposes, you can choose to turn off all marketing cookies through our Cookie Consent Form

If you do this, it would lead to less personalization in your experience of the website and could lead to less financial support for this website. But it is your choice and your right.

We may also disclose your information if compelled by law or if we believe such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you subscribe and then unsubscribe from our newsletter, we will promptly delete your email address from our records.

Third-Party Links and Services

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services that have their own privacy policies.

While we try to be responsible web citizens and only work with robust, reputable entities, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such third parties and cannot be held liable for their lack of compliance.

We advise you to understand any third-party sites’ privacy policy before engaging with them. Please see our Terms of Use for more details.

Children’s Privacy

Our website is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and know that your child has somehow provided us with any personally identifying data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we will promptly remove that data from our servers.

If we need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your information and your country requires consent from a parent, we may require your parent’s consent before you can use this website.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction.

We employ full, strict SSL/TLS encryption of all data and website communications. We also employ a comprehensive Zone-level Web Application Firewall and other security settings provided by CloudFlare, a highly reputable industry leader in website security. It’s a good chance your financial institution uses CloudFlare.

The security of your personal data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Breach Notifications: Should we discover that our systems have been compromised, we will post a notification on our homepage and update this Privacy Policy with details about that breach. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will promptly contact you to inform you of the breach. We will provide you with any details of the breach as we realize and understand them.

Remember, we collect and maintain very little user data compared to most websites. Our describing this process is more a matter of regulation compliance than something we expect any of our regular visitors to have to worry about.

Your Rights

Per laws and regulations such as CCPACPRACPA, and GDPR, as a visitor to our website, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: You have the right to request access to your personal data.
  • Right to Rectification: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Erasure: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to Object: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data.
  • Right to Cookie Consent and Choice: Cookies will only activate once you consent to use them via a Cookie Consent Banner, and you can revisit and revise your Cookie choices at any time via our Cookie Consent Form.

While we think it unlikely our small size, our total number of visitors, or our revenue would make it so that these regulations would apply to us, we strongly support privacy rights, so we have designed this website and its procedures to comply with all of these regulations.

Relative to many or even most websites, we collect very little consequential data or personally identifiable information, and there’s a good chance we won’t even have anything to delete or correct.

Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns. We will promptly comply with any requests related to these regulations.
